MDF believes that vibrant downtowns can be an
economic engine of growth; can serve as an attractant to young people, creative
economic ventures, retirees and diverse populations; and can mitigate costly
sprawling land use development patterns. That’s why we run the Maine Downtown
Center.

The Maine Downtown
Center is a program of the Maine Development Foundation devoted to fostering
new vitality at the heart of Maine Communities.
The mission of the
Maine Downtown Center is to foster downtown development that is dynamic and
community-based, and results in economic development, business growth, job
creation, housing revitalization, historic preservation, and cultural
enhancement.
Read about our
initial work with six Maine communities to promote downtown revitalization in
the January 2002 edition of Down East
Magazine.
This website contains
helpful information about our programs, communities that we are working in
partnership with and the approach that we use to promote downtown
revitalization. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any questions. We're
here to help!
