2006 Maine Symposium on Higher Education Presentation
The Maine
Compact for Higher Education conducted the Maine Symposium on Higher Education in
August 2006 at the University of Maine at Orono. This presentation highlights:
- How the
Maine Employers’ Initiative was developed and what it intends to achieve
- Pratt and
Whitney’s Employee Scholar Program, which represents a ‘best practice’
employer support example in Maine
- An
overview of the NextGen and Life-Long Learning Accounts (LiLA) programs
housed at the Finance Authority of Maine and the Maine Department of
Labor, respectively. NexGen and LiLA are sister efforts of the Employers’
Initiative. All three exist to increase degree attainment levels in Maine.
