To get your downtown into top physical shape you need to have a working understanding of the myriad benefits of historic preservation. As the foundation of the Main Street program, historic preservation is multi-faceted, challenging, rewarding and during this recession has proven to be THE economic driver for development in downtowns in Maine and across the country. Following a panel presentation by key leaders in the field on everything from best maintenance practices to design review to tax credits, we will take a walking tour to study the historic facades of Gardiner’s downtown National Register historic district in a memorable hands-on learning experience. Session co-sponsors: Maine Preservation and Maine Historic Preservation Commission
Who should attend: Everyone involved with downtown revitalization!
