What do beautiful historic facades, eye-catching window displays, occupied upper floors, parades and fun family events, thriving local businesses, tantalizing restaurants, increased tax base, and renewed civic pride have in common? DOWNTOWN! The Maine Downtown Institute, now in its 4th year, provides the essential training every community leader must know to boost your local downtown economy and leave a lasting legacy. Presented five times a year by the Maine Development Foundation's Downtown Center, these interactive, affordable and fun sessions provide in-depth learning based on the nationally-proven Main Street Four-Point Approach ® model for downtown revitalization within the context of historic preservation. Sessions are presented by skilled professionals within and outside Maine. In its first three years, the Maine Downtown Institute has trained 330 leaders in 86 communities representing every county in Maine plus two New England states and Canada. Catch the excitement and register today! Then put the magic to work to revitalize your downtown and promote your unique heritage.

Who should attend? Everyone involved with downtown revitalization efforts including all Main Street Maine staff and board members, Downtown Network program leaders, other downtown boards and committee members, volunteers, small businesses, community planners and elected officials.

All Downtown Institute sessions provide: ideas, tools, resources and inspiration needed to help effectively tackle the challenges and opportunities facing downtown organizations and appointed committees. Continental breakfast is provided at registration check in. Advance registration and payment is required: $25/Maine Downtown Center communities and Maine Development Foundation members
$35/all others

Please note: Since we must provide a headcount to the facility and pay for that number of meals, it is our policy to charge meeting participants who register but do not show. Please notify us by the deadline (listed on each registration form) if you wish to cancel your registration. No shows will be charged the full amount of the registration fee.
