Get Up Downtown poster for January 2010 event at Mainely Brews

On Friday, June 4th the Get Up Downtown program co-sponsored by Waterville Main Street and the Goldfarb Center was recognized with a Downtown Achievement Award from the Maine Downtown Center (a program of the Maine Development Foundation) for Outstanding Special Event.

Get Up Downtown is a programming series designed to familiarize local college students with Downtown attractions of interest while promoting community involvement and participation. The program was started in 2007 by several students on the Goldfarb Center Student Advisory Board in collaboration with Raffi Der Simonian, formerly of Waterville Main Street.

Each year, the Goldfarb Center and Waterville Main Street strive to host at least six Get Up Downtown events at Main Street businesses. In 2009-2010, we held events at Mainely Brews, Jorgensen's Cafe, Barrels Community Market, Maynard's Chocolates, and the Waterville Farmers' Market.
