How is Maine doing in terms of progress toward long-term sustainable economic growth? The Maine Economic Growth Council offers some answers in its 2012 Measures of Growth in Focus annual economic report. The report examines 25 indicators to measure how the state is doing, giving "gold stars" to indicators that demonstrate exceptional performance and "red flags" to those that need attention. Ed Cervone of the Maine Development Foundation, which administers the council, tells MPBN's Irwin Gratz that Maine shines this year in two areas: energy costs and international exports.
