Waterville works on 'branding'

WATERVILLE -- An urban planning expert who specializes in helping communities identify their image or "brand" to help create economic vitality is coming to Waterville.

Arnett Muldrow of Arnett Muldrow & Associates, of Greenville, S.C., will spend Nov. 3 and 4 in the city, talking with economic development officials, city leaders, tourism representatives, youth, and business people, according to Shannon Haines, executive director of Waterville Main Street.

Muldrow will then present to the community some branding concepts that include:

* Logo and tagline designs for the brand, events, organizations

* Custom banner designs

* Way-finding sign designs

* Designs for brochures, visitor guides

* Web page redesign concepts

* Ad templates and concepts for business use

* Designs for everything from T-shirts to mugs

* CD-ROM with all designs in a variety of formats

* Copyright release granting ownership of all designs to Waterville Main Street.

Muldrow will take part in five "round tables" to gather input; the public will have a chance to take part in discussions at 6 p.m. Nov. 3 in the council chambers at The Center downtown, according to Haines.
