AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — A new report says Maine officials are doing more to promote economic growth.

The Maine Economic Growth Council's annual report released Thursday highlights 24 indicators that measure Maine's progress toward long-term, sustainable economic growth.

The report cites 12 indicators showing progress toward reaching their benchmarks, an increase from nine in the previous report.

The Growth Council praised the state's progress in improving personal incomes and health insurance coverage. But it said more needs to be done in four areas: development expenditures, higher education attainment, health care and energy costs.
