Performance Measures and Benchmarks to Achieve a Vibrant and Sustainable Economy for Maine

The Maine Economic Growth Council released the 2012 edition of the annual Measures of Growth In Focus economic report. This year’s report highlights 25 indicators measuring Maine’s progress towards long-term, sustainable economic growth.
The Growth Council awards Gold Stars to indicators that demonstrate exceptional performance and assigns Red Flags to indicators of particular concern. This year, the Council awarded Gold Stars to International Exports and Cost of Energy. Red Flags were given to Research and Development Expenditures, Fourth Grade Reading Scores, Cost of Health Care, Transportation Infrastructure, and Wellness and Prevention.
