Measures of Growth in Focus 2011
The Maine Economic Growth Council's annual report highlights 25 indicators measuring Maine's progress toward long-term, sustainable economic growth. The Growth Council awards Gold Stars to to indicators that demonstrate exceptional performance and assigns Red Flags to indicators of particular concern. This year, the Council awarded Gold Stars to International Exports and Conservation Lands. Red Flags were given to Research and Development Expenditures, Cost of Doing Business, Cost of Health Care, and two new indicators, Fourth Grade Reading Scores and Wellness and Prevention.
