This session will provide an overview of the Project Canopy grant opportunity and application tips, while highlighting the environmental, economic, and community benefits of increasing urban tree canopy. Whether you’re a municipal leader, planner, or community advocate, you’ll gain practical insights on how to make your downtown cooler, more inviting, and more resilient.
Meet the Speakers:
Jan Santerre is the Project Canopy director for the Maine Forest Service where she focuses on all aspects of program management. Project Canopy is a federally funded program in support of urban forestry programming in Maine’s municipalities. Santerre has managed the Maine Register of Big Trees for MFS for more than 20 years, has a bachelor of science degree in forestry from the University of Vermont and is a native of Dover-Foxcroft.
Tabatha Sue White is honored to serve as a Board Member for the Heart of Ellsworth non-profit organization. With a deep-rooted passion for trees and the environment, Tabatha has dedicated her career to urban forestry, arboriculture, and landscape design. A certified arborist since 2009, Tabatha is also a current Ellsworth City Council member.
