Tuition includes the cost of the program, materials, meals, facilities, and five nights of lodging.* Travel expenses to and from each session and all other lodging costs are not covered by tuition.
Each individual is asked to contribute $300 in order to demonstrate a personal commitment to the experience.
*Lodging included: two overnights for the opening retreat, two overnights for the bus tour, and one overnight at the closing retreat. Any other lodging is the responsibility of the participant.
Applicants whose organizations are not members of MDF are strongly encouraged to join. Becoming an MDF Member saves your organization money on tuition and provides additional benefits. Learn more.
Financial Aid Philosophy
Leadership Maine has a limited amount of financial aid available each year to assist participants who cannot personally afford the tuition and have exhausted all other funding sources. Financial assistance will be based upon need and will be extended to those who are unable to meet the tuition requirements once selection of the class has been made. All those capable of funding themselves are strongly encouraged to do so. Funding sources also may include a sponsoring organization or individual, an employer, or another affiliated organization (e.g. a trade organization). Payment plans are also available.
Financial assistance from MDF should be seen as the last dollars that a candidate seeks. As an example, a participant whose organization is a non-member of MDF might pay $1,000 of the $5,500 tuition from personal resources, get his/her employer to contribute $3,500, a sponsoring organization (e.g. Rotary Club, local chamber, municipal association) to pay $500, and then request the last $500 from MDF.
Scholarship assistance is available on a limited basis to ensure our ability to involve many sectors of the Maine community. Selection decisions are made needs-blind. Individual payment plans can be arranged.
All participants will be selected without regard to their financial aid request. Funding Plan Worksheets will be kept in a separate, confidential file until the final selections have been made. If you are chosen to be a class member, we will then consider your request for financial aid in conjunction with other requests. When you are notified of your acceptance, you will also be informed of your scholarship award
A deposit representing 20% of your tuition is due upon your selection in order to hold your place in the class and is non-refundable. Deposits are due no later than Friday, June 18, 2021.
The balance of tuition is due no later than Friday, July 16, 2021. No refunds will be made after Monday, August 2, 2021. Payment plans are available upon request. Please contact Lisa Upton to set up a payment plan.

COVID 19 Considerations:
~ MDF will use the Governor’s guidelines to ensure the safe delivery of our programs. This includes masks, distancing, testing, vaccinations, date changes, virtual sessions if necessary, cancellations, and other strategies as guidance related to COVID19 is adjusted to match pandemic indicators.
~ If you sign up and pay for a session, series or cohort and must withdraw because of COVID19’s impact on you, your family, or your business, you can choose to pay it forward to future programs or request a pro-rated refund for missed programming.
