Lead Now – Online Leadership Programs
Crisis has challenged us to adapt. Innovation springs from downturns in the economy and hard times in our communities. New businesses arise, sometimes out of the ashes of the old. We are building new programs for the times — ones likely to endure — that will provide statewide access to each other and learning opportunities that will stretch us to be the leaders we need to be for our communities, businesses, and citizens across Maine.
MDF is excited to launch Lead Now, a slate of online programs starting in November 2020. There is no better time than now to examine our own individual and organizational leadership as we rise to the challenges in front of us. Programs are designed to support you as you navigate uncertainties, strengthen communities, implement recovery plans, and work to ensure that all Mainers are included in our progress.

Leadership in Action Symposiums
Regularly scheduled events featuring Mainers designed to connect, engage, inform, and catalyze leaders throughout the year.
Women Transforming Leadership
Learn and engage with women who have led the way in transforming selves, organizations, and communities. This highly interactive series is designed for women who are ready to take the next bold step as leaders.
Leading Through Uncertainty
An online cohort designed to connect and build the capacity of leaders to navigate new and evolving dilemmas. What do you do when you don’t know what’s going to happen next? Lead and follow.
Innovating for Economic Growth Series
Be part of helping Maine meet our economic goals. Learn and connect with peers across the state to help tackle the economic challenges that stand in our way. Participants will engage in a cross-sector, online learning journey that increases knowledge of Maine’s economy, explores the data for decision-making, dives deeply into the goals of the state’s strategic and economic recovery plans, and focuses on innovation.
Advancing Equity Cohort
Still in the planning phase, our intent is to better understand what all of us can do to advance equity in our State. It’s an issue on everyone’s mind, especially when it comes to leadership. Our goal is to engage you in our planning, so that together we can do more than just talk — we can do.
Through the program, leaders:
- Increase their ability to examine the issues
- Learn new ways to lead in challenging times
- Practice using what they learn
- Connect with leaders across the state
Since 1993, Leadership Maine and Institute for Civic Leadership have introduced people to Maine, the issues, theories and skill-sets, and potential for their leadership to make a difference. Lead Now continues this tradition and deepens our commitment to ensure access to innovative online learning opportunities through its “reasonable for the times” tuition rates and scholarships.
“Training and development is one of the most important methods of impacting employee engagement and retention. The Institute for Civic Leadership is a wonderful way to invest in your up-and-coming people at all levels, or to round out senior level skills.”Elizabeth Ross-Holmstrom, Founder of BreakTogether
