We are facilitators who help lead broad coalitions achieve economic development, community revitalization and build the workforce Maine will need far into the future. We do so through statewide programs and creative partnerships that are focused on sustainable, long-term efforts.
COVID-19 Resources
For 42 years, MDF been an initiator and key partner in economic development and revitalization efforts geared toward sustainability and responsiveness to changing forces – even crises like we find ourselves in today. We focus on supporting individuals, businesses and communities as they build economically diverse communities and the workforce they will need in the future. We will regularly highlight examples of how we are continuing this work through this crisis period.
FOR/Maine (Forest Opportunity Roadmap) is a cross-sector coalition working to diversify the state’s wood products businesses, attract capital investments, and develop greater economic prosperity for Maine’s rural communities.

The Maine Development Foundation’s Maine Downtown Center Program serves as a statewide resource for preservation-based downtown revitalization.

MaineSpark is a 10-year initiative by Maine’s education and business leaders to ensure by 2025, 60% of Mainers hold the education and workforce credentials they need to succeed.

MDF is a key partner in the Maine Alliance for Health & Prosperity which seeks to address and eliminate systemic inequities in health and economic outcomes for BIPOC, poor, disabled, and LBGTQIA+ people to ensure all Maine people and communities can thrive.
